We’re happy to introduce Simran Bhatti as VIBC’s new Treasurer. Simran brings a wealth of experience to the position, having worked at PwC, public accounting firm, for the past 6 years.
Besides loving bhangra (a prerequisite for any board member!), Simran also plays ball and ice hockey competitively on various teams in the Lower Mainland. In 2015, he had the opportunity to represent Team India at the World Ball Hockey Championship in Zug, Switzerland.
This is Simran’s first board position, and he’s eager to learn the ropes from other members Kiran Dhaliwal (Chair), Kiran Mander, Manpal Rana, Arsh Dhillon, Mandeep Patrola, Milan Singh, Raj Arneja, and Sukhi Ghuman. “I’m excited to meet new people and expand my professional network,” says Simran. “Since I deal with various businesses and their owners on a daily basis, I believe my skills as a Chartered Accountant will help me provide guidance to VIBC from a business and financial perspective.”
He’s also pleased to be volunteering with an organization he relates to and respects: “I’ve heard a lot of positive things about VIBC through various people I know who have volunteered for VIBC in the past, and I’m looking forward to contributing my energy, skills, and experience to help the organization achieve its goals.”
Simran has yet to experience his first City of Bhangra Festival, but is looking forward to it this year. Simran: we promise COB 2016 will be our best yet—so glad you’ll be along with for the ride!
