In 2011, VIBC co-produced the award-winning Bhangra.me exhibit with the Museum of Vancouver – the first South Asian exhibit of it's kind in North America. Naveen Girn curated the exhibition and spent the better part of a year visiting community members, collecting their stories and artefacts. The exhibit focused on four decades of bhangra in Vancouver, and how it was used advance racial and gender equality, and support the labour rights movement of the 1980s in B.C.
The bhangra.me exhibition coincided with the launch of the City of Bhangra Festival in 2011. It was a busy time, to say the least.
