As supporters of the Jazz Festival, Pride 365, Institute of Asian Art, and Party for the Planet, TD Bank Group ensures that the arts play a critical role in our communities, contributing to the vibrancy of our neighbourhoods and creating a legacy of lifelong learning and appreciation for the world around us.
TD believes that diversity is not just a one-time project or initiative; it’s part of who they are and everything they do. And that’s why we’re thrilled to announce they’ve come on board this year as presenting sponsor of our Festival, as well as of our special event, Bhangra: She.
TD’s support means that VIBC can continue to create innovative programming, like Bhangra: She, to attract, educate, and stimulate young people in our community to aim higher and achieve more. Bhangra: She is a workshop presented as part of City of Bhangra Festival 2016, offering young people the opportunity to meet and mix with six fearless young women—gay and straight activists and educators, DJs and producers, actors, rappers, and filmmakers—as they share their stories of struggle and achievement on the way to success.
The program aligns perfectly with TD’s commitment to youth engagement and education. Explains Catherine Cook, Manager Community Banking, Pacific Region: “TD believes that one of the best investments we can make is to ensure that children and youth have access to arts and culture in their communities, because providing learning and skills development through reading, music, arts or theatre is important.” She goes on to say: “We are very excited to partner with VIBC this year. Sponsoring the Festival is a great way for us to reinforce our commitment to diversity, the arts, and creating unique opportunities for young people. You don’t want to miss it!
