On Friday, February 19, VIBC and the Surrey Board of Trade presented “The Business of Culture,” a dynamic night of art, music, dance, food, and great conversation focused on the positive impacts of the arts in our community.
The evening opened with cocktails, an art exhibit by Jarnail Singh, live music by fusion band LAPIS, and a welcome from VIBC Artistic Director Tarun Nayar. This was followed by a talk by Surrey Board of Trade CEO Anita Huberman, and a very special address by the Hon. Amrik Virk, Minister of Technology, Innovation and Citizens’ Services. Royal Academy of Bhangra’s Deep Sahota and African contemporary dancer Jacky Essombe then performed, followed by a lively panel discussion by VIBC founder Mo Dhaliwal and development professional Jocelyn Macdougall. After Shan-E-Punjab Arts Club’s Little Stars wrapped up the formal portion of the evening, the party continued with a sit-down dinner and dancing far into the night!
Thanks from VIBC to everyone who made this event possible. All funds raised will power VIBC’s annual City of Bhangra Festival, June 11-18, 2016. See you there!
