Bhangra dance has come a long way originating in the Punjab region of India and Pakistan back in the 14th - 15th century. It came about during harvest season, Vaisakhi, when farmers would celebrate a great crop by dancing in the ways they work their land.

To this day, Bhangra is still a big part of Indian culture where young and old alike dance at celebrations, weddings, birthdays or any other important events.
It has made it a long way and here in Vancouver, it's vibrant colours and traditional beats will be shared with the world at the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad, Quantum Bhangra.
