Earth Hour

On March 29 at 8:00 p.m., VIBC is joining individuals, cities, organizations and nations across the world in making a statement that we can take action on climate change and global warming.
Earth Hour is a global initiative to raise awareness about the importance of energy reduction and climate change. It's easy to participate - just commit to turn off all unnecessary power and lights from 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. this Saturday, March 29. VIBC has already signed up at www.earthhour.org, but you can sign on as an individual and encourage your friends and family to do the same.
Last year, Sydney, Australia went dark for one hour and started a worldwide discussion on climate change and about the actions individuals and businesses can take. Here in Vancouver, BC Hydro will monitor the effect of Earth Hour on power levels.
Sign up for Earth Hour at www.earthhour.org and join thousands of individuals, businesses and organizations across the world in this global initiative to take action on climate change. If every household in British Columbia turned off their lights for one hour, enough power could be generated to do 1 million dishwasher loads.
