Presenting…the City of Bhangra Poster Child

Our goal is to spread the universal message of this beautiful art form, and what better way than to use this image of pure joy that every person can understand and relate to. And this joy represents exactly what Bhangra is – a dance of happiness, excitement and celebration.

From February 29 – March 8, celebrate life and live in the moment at the City of Bhangra Festival.

Be happy, Bhangra's back.

Volunteer Feature

Name: Selena Sandhu
Specialization: Volunteer Coordination

Selena has been proud to be a member of the VIBC Society since September 2006. Her love for dance and her commitment to volunteer organizations lead her to the Society.

"I wanted to be a part of all the great things VIBC does to promote Bhangra and our culture. The best part of it is that we don’t just aim for the South Asian market. We’re gearing our work to people from all walks of life!"

It all began with a love for dance, art and something she could be a part of to share her culture, but Selena’s work developed long-lasting friendships and a second family. Selena has continued to work with VIBC because of the people she interacts with; not only the ongoing volunteers, but the volunteers she interacts with on the day of events.

"The most rewarding experience has to be seeing the next generation of bhangra performers, event after event, being able to perform and have fun with Bhangra and their culture. The positive feedback from the audience makes me happy. It’s great to see the support we receive from the community."
