The festival begins next week with the Drum Circle, and Transfusion & Bhangra Authentic – both co-presented by the VIBC Society and the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad.

Transfusion |
Transfusion – a dance experience
Flamenco fused with Kathak fused with Bhangra fused with Celtic – this is Transfusion, one of two events being co-presented by the VIBC Society and the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad next week.
Transfusion shows the inter-relationships between Indian dances and other similar folk dance traditions. With dancers like Sitara Thobani, Chengxin Wei, Karen Michelle Pitkethly and Raakhi Sinha, this multi-media event presents some of the most talented artists from across the country. Audiences will experience unique dance collaborations between Kathak and Flamenco, Bharatnatyam and Afro-contemporary, and Bhangra with Breakdancing.
Transfusion – February 29 and March 1 at 8:00 p.m.

Bhangra Authentic, co-presented by VIBC & Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad
Bhangra Authentic brings the folk origins of Bhangra to the stage with an English narrated presentation explaining and presenting different Punjabi music and dance. Listen as poetry is fused with music, and watch as Punjabi folk dance emerges from the fields. Sign language interpretors will be at both shows of Bhangra Authentic.
Bhangra Authentic – Sunday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Feature Event: The Drum Circle
Feel the beat of the drum from all parts of the world at the Drum Circle. Led by Sal Ferreras and presented by Vancouver Community College, this free event features prominent percussionists with their Punjabi counterparts in an exhibition of rhythms and beats from around the world. If you are a drummer or a drum enthusiast, don't miss the beat at Drum Circle. Free to the public.

Due to unfortunate circumstances Davis Di Dynasty (3D) will no longer be taking part in the Coast Capital Bhangra Competition, their team will not be replaced due to time constraints. So, following is the list of the teams that have qualified for the VIBC in alphabetical order:
