Vancouver, BC, February 20, 2008 – Flamenco fused with Kathak fused with Bhangra fused with Celtic – this is Transfusion, one of two events being co-presented by the VIBC Society andthe Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad next week. Transfusion and Bhangra Authentic, a presentation of Punjabi folk dance and music, both take place at the Vancouver International Film Centre on February 29, March 1 and 2. Vancouver, B.C., January 31, 2008 – The streets will come alive, once again, with the beat of the dhol, and the stomping of feet as Bell presents the City of Bhangra Festival from February 29 – March 8, 2008. The festival, organized by the Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration (VIBC) Society, encourages cultural exploration and community participation through a diverse series of events highlighting the Northern Indian art form of Bhangra. Vancouver, B.C., October 24, 2007 – Promoting creativity, innovation and team spirit amongst youth is what the NEXT Bhangra Competition is all about. On November 11, 2007, the VIBC Society presents the NEXT Bhangra Competition, an event that features local high school students performing and competing at the Bell Centre for Performing Arts in Surrey, BC.
