Bhangra.me Curator Talk & Tour
You’ve seen the dance and listened to the music… Now join the conversation! Our co-production of “Bhangra.me: Vancouver’s Bhangra Story,” with the Museum of Vancouver is still a hit! Join Guest Curator Naveen Girn in an intimate and interactive conversation with PAAR Club’s Paul Binning and Dr. Kanwaljit Neel (the infamous Math Teacher from the Knowledge Network).
Mr. Binning and Dr. Neel, both founding members of Vancouver’s first Bhangra Team, PAAR Club, will share their experiences, memories and stories of their first performances, dancing at the Montreal Olympics in 1976 and the role of Bhangra in anti-racism and labour movements in the 1980’s. Dr. Neel’s anthropolgocial study of Bhangra dance and PAAR club is also featured in the exhibit.
A guided tour of Bhangra.me: Vancouver’s Bhangra Story will follow.
